The University of Mississippi Fencing Club and the Oxford fencers are proud to host "The Gathering", a foil, epee, and saber competition at Ole Miss on November 8, 2003. This event is open to all fencers. I have attached a file in rich text format with the registration form, and the schedule. The fencer who does the best overall will receive the "The Gathering, there can be only one" trophy. Clay Fulks won it last year.The registration form is available here.

Fees

Fees: First weapon $20, each additional weapon $5. Fencers, if eligeable, may enter open, women’s, and novice foil for $20. Fencers ranked “C” and above fence that weapon free. Anyone who is rated by the FOC as a referee will receive lunch and free registration for refereeing, even if they also compete in the same event they referee in. It is our hope that this will be a fun, casual, efficiently run competition. The chances are good that we will make a C1 competition in open foil and perhaps also in open epee.

The Venue

The venue is the Turner Athletic Center on the Ole Miss Campus at Oxford, MS. From the Hwy 6 bypass in Oxford take the Coliseum Dr. exit, turn north, almost immediately you will come to a 4-way stop, turn right, Follow this road for about 1/2 mile as it gradually curves to the left and as you approach the next 4-way stop the large red brick building on your left is the Turner Athletic Center. Enter through the main entrance, up the stairs, or elevator to the basketball courts. Shower facilities are available, bring your own soap and towel.

Accomodations

The Days Inn in Oxford is recommended for overnight accommodations. They have rooms with two double beds for about $50/night. To get to the Days Inn, from the Hwy 6 bypass in Oxford take the Downtown/Lamar Ave. exit, turn south and immediately turn right onto Frontage road. The Days Inn is directly ahead. To the Venue from the Days Inn get on the Hwy 6 bypass heading west. Take the second exit (Coliseum Drive).
